We represent both buyers and sellers in residential and commercial real estate transactions. With the popularity of “for sale by owner” transactions, we are actively involved in negotiating and preparing sales agreements and assist our clients through closing. If a realtor is involved, we independently advise our clients throughout the process and represent them at the closing table. Title insurance is offered through our affiliated title insurance agency, Cedar Cliff Abstract Agency, Inc., agent for Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company, Inc.
Our firm will develop a comprehensive estate plan for you which may include a will, trust, durable power of attorney and advance directive or living will. Upon the death of a loved one, our firm will provide the counsel necessary to aid in the administration of the estate in order to navigate the probate process, the payment of death taxes, and the distribution to beneficiaries.
Deciding which form of business entity to select, whether C or Sub-S corporation, limited liability company, general or limited partnership, or charitable non-profit, is an important decision. We guide our clients through this process and offer ongoing legal advice to our clients as they operate their businesses.
Being a general practice law firm, our firm will often handle other general matters for our clients ranging from family law matter, neighborhood disputes, and tax matters. When a client require the services of a specialist that fall out of the scope of our practice, we will work with the client to refer them to a qualified attorney to ensure that our client receive the same quality of service they have come to expect from us.
Fee arrangements are discussed at the initial consultation. Often times a fee agreement is signed by the client and the lawyer handling the case detailing the scope of services, hourly rate and payment terms. Whereas some matters are billed on an hourly rate, other matters are billed on a flat fee or percentage basis. These arrangements are discussed and agreed upon at the initial meeting. Payment is due at the time of services or upon receipt of a statement of services. Interest is charged on the outstanding balance due on statements after 30 days at 1 and 1/2 % per month. In some matters, a retainer fee is requested which is credited to your account for services to be performed in the future.
